The exterior knobs have tarnished. Wondering how to restore their original look, suggestions?

Remove the hardware. Clean off the lacquer and spend the time polishing the brass. I use Brasso and old rags. Use masking tape to cover any moving parts. Apply several coats of spray lacquer per manufacturer's directions.
