Problem removing Grohe bathroom faucet handles (2023 Update)

Problem removing bathroom faucet handles open original image

I have a Grohe (I think) two-handle bathroom faucet that needs new cartridges. The handles appear to have typical caps one would pry off to access the screw underneath. However, try as I might, I cannot get even a knife blade under either cap. They seem to be either not caps at all, or really, really tight. There is no allen key or other way to loosen the handle. Am I being a moron and not seeing another way to do this, or am I just dealing with really tight caps? Thanks!

To remove the handles of a Grohe bathroom faucet, you will need to first locate the setscrews that are holding the handles in place. These setscrews are usually located under a small plastic or metal cap on the top or side of the handle. Once you have located the setscrews, use a small Allen wrench or screwdriver to remove them. Once the setscrews are removed, the handles should come off easily. If the handles do not come off easily, you may need to use a handle puller tool to remove them.
