A friend woke up last night to see her smoke alarm blinking yellow and it never has before. No chirping noise to indicate battery was low. This morning it is not blinking yellow anymore. Scared her and she wonders what it means.
A friend's smoke alarm was blinking yellow in the middle of the night. Know why?

Yellow, normally, means there's an error in something. The most common "error" is that the detector is not fully locked into its cradle. On some detectors simple temperature changes over time work the detector slightly loose. Remove the detector, blow through and brush it clean of any dust or cobwebs and re-install to restore normal operation.
