I need some small lightweight hinges and catches to hinge and hold the lid shut on a small carrying case - BnQ, Screwfix, CPC and Toolstation have failed me. Any suggestions?

My friendly local ironmonger keeps that sort of thing. He has small, wooden compartments on one of his counters and they are filled with things like that. He'll even sell you just one, if that is all you want.
Try your friendly local ironmonger.

Unfortunately, friendly local ironmongers seem to be nearly extinct in my part of Hampshire, and the one I can think of doesn't have parking so would involve a city-centre car park ... no wonder High Streets are dying! For some reason I didn't look on eBay before asking here - now that I have there seem to be lots available. They look fairly flimsy but are for a mandolin case so don't need to be heavy duty, but I'd prefer that they didn't open at the wrong time !!
Doh! You're absolutely right and I don't know why I didn't look there!
I use Ironmongery Direct
