I had to laugh. BBC TV news last night, main item was the increase in anti-terrorist police activity. So they showed the police stopping a blonde white woman to find out if she was a terrorist and then they interviewed three members of the public to ask what they thought about the terrorists. The first two were not white. So the BBC want us to think that anyone could be a terrorist and the immigrants are the victims of terrorism. What a load of arse.

Actually, one other funny last night was one of the new police said, we don't want people to be frightened of us, we are approachable please talk to us, yeah right, itf you are female and blonde you might get away with that, but I'd be worried if I looked aribic and wandered up toward one that I'd get shot full of holes.
In my view, Londons police tend toward thinking stereotypically much as you suggest in your initial post.
Do they really think that people willing to die for whatever warped cause they think they are representing will care if the place is swaming with armed police? If they are going to die anyway, where is the difference?

We still have not found a way to instantly incapacitate a person without killing them have we. It seems to me that if a way could be found to do this then the things the security services would find out would be more than now when they seem to end up with a body. There is no real answer to people willing to kill themselves who seem to also think that being dead is good even for the victim. How can you fight such a belief? I just wonder if, much like has happened in Ireland if you attempt to engage with thee people and see what would satisfy them you end up with two groups, one lot are genuinely feeling disenfranchised, and the other are basically criminals and thugs who use others to get their way. Yes well we have enought trouble with muslim taxi drivers who will not take assistance dogs when its the law. They are not actually reading their holy books correctly and of course using things designed for parts of the world where rabbies is indemic with our case here. Brian

My thought was what an odd place to do it - obviously chosen not to disrupt traffic for a photo call. With a convenient open space (park) opposite to provide plenty room for the meja. And the car/person stopped likely not just a member of the public. So staged for the event.
