OT - Fascias and Soffits

Hi all

Any downsides to using the wrap over fascia in places where the fascia boards are solid, rather than going for full replacement? I am reluctant to get the gable fascias removed as there is a risk of damaging the cement board supporting the overhanging tiles IYSWIM.

To be fair most of the woodwork is solid, just rotten bits towards the bottom of the gable fascias (and some rough looking soffits).

Thanks

Phil

We had what I assume is what you're calling wrap over fascia, on our single gable end. The one thing the installer did do was to drill lots of large holes, say about 1 inch, through the wooden fascia to allow it to breathe or some-such reason, otherwise he said it would rot under the PVC. It ended up looking like Swiss cheese. I have no idea whether he was right and whether it was necessary, but I'm sure he wouldn't have spent time doing it if it wasn't.

Thanks Chris

That sounds like a good question to ask a shortlisted installer.
