OT: buying crockery

I've been dragged-out to look at buying a new set of plates, bowls, etc but the prices of good quality square'ish plates and bowls are ridiculous. Half-decent restaurants have interesting crocks and I can't believe they pay £15 for a single plate! Where do restaurants buy their crockery?

Catering equipment suppliers.

E.G. Nesbits:

Not saying these are the cheapest/best, just happen to know of them, but probably typical-ish

~25 years ago I knew someone who had a load of franchises for cafes in shopping centres. He used to buy a kiln full of stuff at a time. I think they used to flog off the seconds and keep the good stuff.

Nisbets. Now my son is into catering, we have the catalogue and buy quite a bit from them.

Nisbets are certainly a long-established supplier.

However, I've found that

extremely good value on branded items. At the moment, for example, they're offering 10" Churchill Willow Pattern dinner plates at =A32.81 including VAT. These are proper catering-standard plates.

Yes, they do the odd shapes as well

connection to the company other than being a very satisfied customer.
