Wheat board

Has anyone had any experience with wheat board as an alternative for various kinds of composition board products?

Comments?

Who sells it?

If we're talking about the same stuff, I've used it. IMO, it's no better or worse than particle board, it's just made of slightly different stuff. Around here (Chicago area), I bought it at Menards.

I wonder if you have to use Wheat Paste when gluing ;~)

Strawboard sheets were made in Elie, Manitoba. Ca. But the plant closed a few years ago for various reasons - no market, costs, etc. The city block long walls of massive huge straw bales are still there if you need some straw.

The stuff is much the same and finishes the same as MDF and is relatively stable. Painting is probably best but it can be clear coated. And it makes as much or more dust when cutting or routing. Like MDF or particle board, keep the water off. I've only used the product once.

There may be other plants out there that are making the stuff. The Elie plant used to ship to Menards.

Good question... I was thinking that the 7-grain would be pretty..
