shop-built tools

does anyone know of a web site for "Gilliom Manufacturing"? I understand that they supply parts, plans, and castings suitable for shop-built tools. my web searches only turn up postal addresses and pictures of some tools. any other suppliers of this type that you would suggest? Thanks.

Having built some of their tools, don't think you will find one.

I also wouldn't do it again.

They don't have a web site. You can order their catalog by mail or phone. I'm sure a Google search will find it for you right away.

I had ordered some lathe parts from them once many years ago mostly on account of poverty and reliance upon the wisdom of some very old copies of Fine Woodworking magazine. Their stuff turned out to be lightweight aluminum castings, with voids, and some Shopsmith style centers that could just as easily have been obtained from Shopsmith. Never used them and I wouldn't recommend that anyone else try. You can do much better with old iron scrounged at garage sales or eBay or specialists in old tools.
