I am stripping an older wooden high chair and would like some suggestions on what to use for a finish.

Two different approaches:
- If you plan on scrapping the chair after it's outgrown use ploy. It's very durable but really a pain to refinish.
- If you plan on passing the chair down from child to child use shellac. It's not as durable as poly but very easy to maintain and refinish.
