't get what I need anywhere close to my location and even with (their estimated) shipping the price of what I want is about what I would pay after driving a few hundred miles roundtrip to pick up. However two emails to their 'freight estimate" email link to confirm shipping have gone unanswered as well as an attempt to use their 'chat' feature. Looking for 100 BF of Quarter Sawn White Oak 4/4 FAS in western Arkansas if anyone knows of a source. Or if anyone has done business with the above your experience would be appreciated. Thanks. I apologise if this gets posted twice. Some kind of SNAFU here.

Can't help with that vendor; I just purchased a bit over 100 BF of 5/4 poplar from Steve Wall Lumber Shipping from North Carolina to Tucson was a bit spendy, but when all was said and done, I wound up paying about the same as if I had bought locally. However, I got lumber that was higher quality than I could have bought locally so, in my opinion, this was well worth it. My next order will be for some upper-crust (cherry most likely) lumber.

They responded to my on-line order quickly and professionally, I had the shipping cost estimate the day after I submitted my request (my request went in after hours). They contacted me the next day to confirm shipping details and final charges after they had palletized the lumber and provided the PRO number so I could track it.

I can't complain about the sticks they selected to ship -- I didn't get any corkscrews or other trash. One of the pieces was split for about 1 foot along the one end, but was still useable. Boards were about 10 feet in length, banded together with a few pieces of cutoffs for dunnage.

Did you pick up the phone? They've got an 800 number listed...

I've not used them and while was in E TN and traveled NC to Raleigh area quite a bit and did explore various mills and yards while there, I have no direct knowledge of this particular one. From what is available on the web site, I'd venture there ok but probably not fully "up to speed" on the internet stuff...

I'd think in AR there would be some places nearer by in Ft Smith or Fayetteville areas???

It's been a few years, but I bought 100 bd ft each of "log run" cherry = and walnut. Quality was better than they'd specified. Yes, the shipping i= s a lot. IIRC, I figured it out at about 50 cents a bd ft. Probably more nowadays, considering general inflation and the price of gas.

But they were, and apparently still are, a good vendor.

Yep, shipping ran $1.22/BF from NC to AZ. Sad thing is, it was still competitive with what I could buy locally even with shipping added in. I know that shipping is inherent in the price of the local products, but one would think that they would have a much better rate since my shipping was not a bulk shipment, but a specialized shipment.

Internet Lumber seems to be exclusely set up for online sales and I thought their prices reasonable for the QS oak even with estimated shipping. I did see the 800 number but using a telephone is problematic for me and I use it as a last resort. I did try woodfinders but they didn't even find the local dealers I know of. There are two local lumber dealer but none that have QS oak (nor will they order it) and I have to say they are pretty un-helpful almost to the point of rudeness. Not used to dealing with non professionals I suppose. I can get it in Little Rock but it's actually more per BF than buying online and it's Select instead of FAS. Plus for about the same price including shipping I can order it S3S which would save me a lot of time. Their non response to freight quote requests just made me a little leery and was hoping to find someone who had experience with them. Thanks again

That's a wise position to take. When dealing with an on-line store, if you have the least mis-givings, you are best off to back off and either find someone who can vouch for them or find somewhere else to go.

QS FAS white oak and they have confirmed quickly. Used a cc of course just in case. Since I raised the question about their reputation I will be sure to update my experience when the process is complete.
