hitachi slide saw problems

I have a Hitachi c8fb2 sliding miter saw. it's been around the block a few times, but i still use it on occasion. lately i have been having electrical problems...pull the trigger and no go. the funny thing is, every single time it does this, i give a rap on the handle and it goes. every single time. i'd think if it was a loose wire, it wouldn't be so consistent. ( i checked for loose wires and couldn't find any). replaced the switch--same problem. also, once you rap on it, it will keep working if you are making multiple cuts in quick succession. but if you leave it idle for 5 minutes or more, it needs the rap on the handle to make it go. around this same time, the blade brake quite working (might have happened when the switch got replaced, since you have to take the motor off to replace the switch), but can't see why that would be related. ideas?

Sticky/worn brushes gives that same condition
