Hi,
I'm looking to purchase 3 or 4 "Number 1" Acrow props for a forthcoming project involving some pretty heavy duty roof support.
Can anyone recommend an internet merchant who can sell me some?

I got mine off EBay, but they are rare to find there.

who seem to have offices all over the place though I'd never heard of them before today.
£23.95 (ex VAT) to buy.
I think the purchase versus rental decision is a "no brainer". Job done.

Cheers mate. The machine mart ones also seem decent value. I'm going to need mine for a while and in future work so it's definitely worthwhile buying for me.
I bought mine from a hire firm (Wright Hire in Marple). Many of the small hire companies will happily do this though obviously the chains aren't always set up to do likewise.

============== These props being rather heavy have an extra use. I use mine ( the top part without thread) as a tamper whenever I need to consolidate soil or sand before paving / slabbing etc. It saves the cost of a proper tamper and does the prop no harm.
