That can be fun when done locally.
Basic physics does NOT say HOT rises either. Warm air would only rise if it was warmer than the air around it.
If you put a warm piece of metal in a bowl of water it would not rise because it is hotter than the water, that is a fact too.
A/C != cold. The decision to turn on A/C, for example to dehumidify the air in winter, is completely separate from the decision to set the temperature.
In the summer, I use A/C with a colder temp. In the winter, I use A/C with a warmer temp.
What you mean is, you can turn on the A/C and the heater at once.
