Excellent suggestion. Bit late as I have just re-located and filled my 3! Field Voles rather than Mice or Rats here. I have some agricultural grain bin sheeting (galvanised expanded metal) which should last a few years in contact with compost.
Wheelie bin to composter....

I was fortunate and came across three perforated stainless steel sheets about 1m x1m lying unwanted in a store, I think they were intended to be parts of a water filtration system on a ship .
