Yesterday mornings job - and a dumb secretary

A nice simple replacement of a door entry system.

What could go wrong?

Well first of all the replacement was cheap Polish shit with badly translated instructions for a different model to the one that I was installing and it was expecting a fail safe lock not a mag lock. That is easily sorted with a Handy Little Relay.

Now the real problem was getting the handset in the office to work.

Me (to secretary) "I am now going to test the handset if you have the time" Secretary "OK"

45 minutes later after altering the jumper settings on the phone about 10 times and still getting no response I asked her

"Has the phone made any sound at all?"

She replied "Well it rings when you press the button outside"

FFS and she is allowed to drive a car and have children.

You should realise that if she were a computer you would need to program a bit that says, if sound from handset detected, wave through window, else carry on. Brian

You should have told her that the device was a handset for the door, not a phone, and asked her to reply if it rings.
