Wasps and cavity wall vents

We fitted stainless steel mesh vent covers over the existing ones. Keeps out wasps and mice.

Sadly, mine are simply gaps where the brick end mortar is mostly missing. I can chisel the surplus mortar out but doubt the gaps are uniform or wide enough to fit standard plastic vents:-(>

Ours came with a plastic frame, which we Gorilla-glued to the harling, Looks neat and tidy (we used the clear glue) and keeps unwanted critters out. Very little effort, no drilling or chipping out required.

No 3D printer.

I was hoping for a pointer to stainless wire wool etc.

I can fabricate an insert out of perforated zinc or similar. Haven't considered suitable glue.

Large dose of insecticide spray last night seems to have got all but a couple of strays.

Any supermarket has a pan scourer that is stainless.

I'd recommend hot glue or gorilla foaming.

It also says, "DO NOT WEAR THE GLOVES OF DISTRIBUTION, EASY TO BE SCRATCHED BY STEEL VELVET HANDS"

But I would have thought that stuff would impede ventilation quite a bit.

I have a roll of stainless mesh arriving this week. Enough to do the soffits as well!

Dunno. I have some stainless steel scouring pads, but they're much coarser than "Brillo" type pads. They really are SS though, as they never show any corrosion even after weeks being left wet.

Indeed. I don't understand why they don't seem sharp enough to cut skin, but are very good at removing baked-on deposits from metal. I find them useful for cleaning the chromed metal grids of oven shelves.
