Need to raise our bed 4" to be able to slide a sara steady under it.
Loads of bed/furniture risers around. However they are designed for corners to go into, not for edges to rest on (and therefore slip off when most dangerous).
Does anyone know of a source for something like

with a channel cut into the top for a rail/plank to sit in ?

To state the obvious: it would be very easy and quick to make something suitable.

? I have a set to help me get out of bed more easily (long legs). They also help to make more space under the bed. The look like a straightforward DIY project if you have a very round TUIT.

I may be able to turn a length of 4x4 timber into what I want, thinking about it. Screwing a couple of strips onto the top to make a channel ....

Understood. You can likely do it for cheap using scrap / scavenged wood, but it does help if you are able to cut and screw together wood. Power tools help if you don't have much strength.
Something like that, or cheaper three long pieces of wood, one whose thickness roughly matches the thickness of the bed edge so they clamp around it. Add some legs for additional height, so they don't need to be fully 4" high. Like this in profile:
where ** is your timber and ## is the bed edge. Neither piece needs to be the full length of the bed, but the 'foot' part can be shorter than the 'clamp' part.
