I recently updated to iOS 26.2 on my iPad Air, since then a floating black button has appeared on the screen whose only function seems to be to lock whichever screen is current and also stops apps being launched. Although the button can be moved and placed anywhere on the screen annoyingly it inevitably ends up somewhere I do not want it. I have tried to remove it like you would do with any app without success neither have I found any setting that removes it. Anyone know how to remove it?

Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> Assistive Touch
It's a quick access button that allows access to various phone functions which are normally done by swiping.

Thanks Theo but that setting only produce/deletes a similar button. The black button has two concentric circles with what looks like an open/close padlock partially obscured by the inner circle.
I found the solution so just in case anyone else had the same problem?
Settings - Accessibility - Hover text (off)
