Timber costs

Does anybody have a basic list of the comparative costs of various timbers? I'm looking for approximate prices in cubic feet. My googling has failed me - I've found a few specialist hardwood suppliers, but I'd also like to compare to some softwoods.

I wrote a little app to take the CSV seperated database that travis perkins will mail you, compute the volume and wor out price/m^3.

I came out for the cheaper stuff at pretty much 300 qiud per cubic metre, regardless of size. I.E. you can't save money by buying 150mm*50mm, and sawing it into

50*50.

Any idea on the relative prices of different species? (that's what I'm really after)

It's sold in cubic metres.

James Latham's web site has a wide range of product offerings and they'll send brochures and pricing.

Depends on who you go to :-)

I found lots of people who'll do that - does anybody have the actual answers to hand? I'm not after anything binding, just something which will enable me to make an approximate comparison.

=A316 / cube foot is a good local price for decent grade larch or doug fir (on a good day) in useful building sizes.

Interesting Timbers have a good hardwoods site, with clear pricing.
