That hoist is up for grabs again

Didn't someone want to have their garage door opening remotely and was looking for a suitable mechanism?

It doesn't, but it can with some ingenuity I'm talking about the up&over type garage door

Bloody hell, I've got just the application for that, today.

Easy to rig it to open the door, a bit less easy to get it to close it though. So you get half an automated garage door control, and with no rf remote.

Even then, not as easy at it sounds.

Proper garage door openers either hold the door in the closed position or have a means to unlatch the locks on opening. Without this, no security.

There are sensors to prevent the door closing on something or somebody. These range from detecting mechanical resistance to light/IR beams.

Both would need to be added, and by the time this is done, it would be less expensive to buy the proper item.
