Trying to rack my brains for something readily available and about 1 - 2 mm thick that I can use for a spacer in a long (well 3m) continuous run.
I have plenty of those plastic spacers (though there never seem to be enough of the size you need) but they wouldn't really do this job. The only thing I've thought of so far is a few layers of dpm but I'm sure there must be other things.
Any ideas folks?

There are self adhesive plastic foam spacer tapes sold in rolls. You don't say how wide or rigid it has to be or what colour. How about:

Good idea Tim. They list both at Wickes but don't say how thick - guess I'll have to wait til I finish at work to go over and see. B&Q list 2mm ali. Would prefer the plastic as I'll have to screw through it, so marginally simpler. Interestingly, plastic and ali seem about the same prices (ie much more than you would think, at least for the plastic!)

The plastic foamy rolled-up stuff that you put under laminate floors on concrete surfaces? Or does it have to be hard?

Plastic edging as applied to edges of furniture with hot melt glue (Not the pre-glued stuff). Available in various widths and thickness's. If there ar e any furniture manufacturers close to you they may sell you some or you co uld chance your arm and ask these people for a short length
They are large suppliers of this edging.
Depends on width needed, and if it's dry, but you could rip that thickness of hardwood on a table saw.
Better idea - get some offcuts from a metal workshop.

Iron on laminate trim strip, stuff that comes in rolls. Strips of laminate floor.
Plant labels, lolly sticks
