I assume you already have a shaver socket to charge your previous electric toothbrush. Could you not replace this with a USB socket on the basis that the latter is only 5 volts?

I have a bathroom cabinet with mains supply for heated mirror demister and LED lighting, it has an internal shaver socket for toothbrush charging, I fitted a 13A socket inside too for clipper charging ...

That's the way the market's going. I installed something like one of these a couple of years ago. Fortunately I have a void behind the sink and was able to access the mains supply that fed the shaving light.

The latter sounds a bit naughty, unless it's fed from a double wound transformer.

You can get 2-pin to USB chargers. I have one with a US plug as it holds better in the socket better.

Indeed you can but the question then is whether it has the correct IP rating to use in a bathroom. This links you posted do not seem to suggest this is the case.

A little bit, I won't tell if you don't ... I think it's physically impossible to get 3m away from anything that's in my bathroom.

Even then, it would have to be one hell of a transformer to supply (up to) 13 Amps.

(If you install a 13 Amp socket, sooner or later someone will use it to supply a heavy load.)

If you have Braun or Oral B toothbrushes then you can get wall mounted toothbrush chargers.

Not all shaver sockets are installed in bathrooms and they don't all have isolating transformers. For example, the MK K700WHI Fused Shaver Socket just has an overload cutout but no transformer. It is available from a wide range of suppliers. John
