I did post something to X yesterday and despite being a comment on a post it didn't seem to be attached to anything. I'll try again!

No. Not really. Maybe commenting on you tube videos. Gave up on quora - infested with people who report you for anything not on the party line. And trolled by AI bots that only ask leading questions.

Essentially all social media spaces are now cess pits of AI, political cant, and people trying t o be 'influencers' no matter how many lies they tell.

I took one look at faces book years ago when some teenage relatives were posting pictures of themselves on it and thought 'WTF: Paedos paradise' .

Facebook can be useful for small "local" groups to share information on local events etc. but I've unsubscribed from a moderated group where the moderator censored everything that doesn't meet his very narrow view of life

Those automated moderators are not too good at understanding irony.

Next thing you know, someone from the local constabulary will be round to feel your collar for hate speech against Palestinians.

Imperfect as it is, Reddit users can get away with some minor levels of offence against Trump and his growing range of international henchmen.

I use Twitter/X for general chit chat, humour, and watching for news that is censored by the mainstream media.

I use Facebook for interest groups, such as Motor Homes, local events, medical issues, and keeping in touch with some more distant contacts.

I use WhatsApp and Signal for fairly secure chat with friends and family, but I'm not sure that counts as Social Meeja.

Watch some things on Instagram but don't post.

Dipped my toe into Reddit, but again not posting.

I have a BlueSky account but very rarely use it.

That's about it at the moment.

I would never countenance anything to do with Farcebook and that spotty-faced weirdo that runs it can go to hell AFAIC. My relatives back in the UK feel likewise and are particularly pissed off with 'Marketplace' which has siphoned off all the local advertising which used to be available on independent local online media. So you can no longer see cars for sale in your area (or anything much else for that matter) without having a Farcebook account and having all your personal data whisked away to god only knows where. The UK needs US-style anti-trust laws to prevent this kind of thing.

My local Tesco has a concession photo service (counter, photoprinters, misc photo acessories, etc), does passport/id photos, and it is very much not a simple automated booth. It doesn't seem impossible that perhaps some Sainsburys are similar (even if not, as you suggest, the particular one in question).

Our local Tesco concession is excellent (Whitstable).

I went to get a passport photo there, and they upload the photo to the Passport Office and get it validated. I am missing a left eye, and the eyelid tends to droop over the prosthetic. They took several goes, but got it right. (they give you a code to use with an online application)

As this is DIY , you can DYO, like what I did . They were perfectly happy.
