Since e.on fitted mine, their unit prices have repeatedly gone down and down, they are drastically cheaper than any other supplier for me.
They are no worse than sticking with a dumb meter, you can always switch away from whoever fitted them and provide your own readings, or wait home for the meter reader like in ye olden days ...
