Skycar.....I want one

The Ruskies sorted it out. These should be on the Irish Sea ferry routes. They can rise up and land on a normal airport, ideal for Liverpool as John Lennon is right on the Mersey Estuary. Or right at Liverpool's city centre at the Pier Head. It can do the Liverpool IOM run in minutes and land in Douglas Bay or at Ronaldsway airport.

Ah yes, but these would generally be in relatively sheltered waters anyway, wouldn't they?

It would as you say still add to the journey time. I guess it comes down to how long the route is.

Heh. I nearly mentioned the RORORO 'Spirit'.

"Family -friendly, larger ship"

Sounds like a Lonely Hearts advert.

I'm regarding it as a pub and casino with a nice sea-view bedroom for a few days.

Let's just hope that when the ceiling becomes the floor and the floor becomes the ceiling that it's just because you're very, very drunk.

Very VERY unlikely. Apart from anything else every first office on every other cruise liner will be watching the Captain _very_ carefully right now, and none of them will be taking risks that they all now fully understand.

Still not my thing. "All I ask is a tall ship, and a star to steer her by."

I recall reading about a wealthy guy (don't know if this is true, BTW) who had a spare room where he put his more inebriated guests to sleep it off.

The room had carpets and furniture fixed to the ceiling and a white painted floor with light fittings on it.

Genius. I really hope it is true.

I shall add that to the lottery list!

My Dad saw a room like that - at the old Hal Roach studios in Hollywood.

Are you sure it wasn't MGM?

at the time - while training as a combat cameraman during WWII. It wouldn't surprise me if such a room existed at more than one studio, though.
