Sitrep B&Q

To B&Q Ashford this a.m. (the Canterbury one is not re-opened yet). Qeueu took 30 mins to get through, a bit less than Chummy at the car park entrance warned us of.

Generally, poor selection of stuff. Perhaps I should stop attempting the buy things at that particular store.

And why is their own-brand stuff so badly labelled? I look in the container for 6mm washers, find packets labelled 6mm, some of which are

6mm OD and some are 6mm ID. Hopeless.

Clearly the possibility that the length of queues might be dependent on the time of day, or day of the week has not occurewd to this poster. As it doesn't to your average poster on local forums, either.

Whereas in fact if you turn up at opening time in the middle of the week the queues are often a lot shorter, if they exist at all, as compared with other times.

One thing this pandemic doesn;t seem to have altered, despite all the enforced leisure is people's underlying shopping habits, or the time of day they get up,

My local has just reopened and I was tempted to see if I could get some supplies but I first went on line in the early morning (virtual queue was less than one minute) and a lot of items were indicated as zero stock in the branch and at all stores nearby. The only emulsion paint in stock seemed to be the silly mega expensive or the cheap 1 star reviewed paints requiring 4 coats to cover.

I got one container of paint, at a premium price, from Ebay that turned up today packed in two cardboard boxes and two rubbish sacks of foam chips that will allow me to continue with some DIY and I have I have some other paint on order but delivery is not expected until 6th May.
