What is the best way to seal the cut edge of veneered chipboard against water ingress?

================================ Iron-on edging strip will seal against mild splashing and wiping. Find it near the 'Contiboard' in Wickes etc. If you buy the wood veneer type then varnishing will add some protection.

If looks aren't too important, the best way is with clear silicone.
