I work at home in a reasonably large L-shaped room at the top of the house. It's an old house so plain floorboards, not tongue and groove, and small gaps. I have a couple of rugs on the floor, but want to smarten the place up.
No way can I clear the room out.
So I was thinking, how about those rubber tiles which link together? I could put them in piecemeal, moving stuff as needed.
But I have no experience of them. Are they any good? Anything to avoid?

I did similar in my revamped office - used very cheap carpet tiles (not linked) from as it happens homebase, laid over an underlay - foam in my case but fibre also good.
manged to cut all te angles witha steel rule and a stanblyu knife.

There are several different sorts with different plusses and minuses. I have some in a utility room (the type that are not solid, but have interconnected hollows on the underside).
You can get interlinking EVA mats that are sold for horse stables (6' x
3' iirc). Not particularly pretty but nice underfoot and provide thermal and sound insulation. Cheaper than rubber. Might be good for a play-room.Like TMH I used carpet tiles recently when I had the same problem with my wife's sewing room.
Use a suitable adhesive. probably low tack. We have hade carpet tiles in the foyer and corridor of our church for over 10 years and there is no sign of the edges lifting. The only prlen is lifting them if they become damaged. They are rubber backed

Some rubber tiles stink of, well, rubber for ages and ages.
