Roof light covers?

there should be a code on that roof light.

Google for blinds against the roof light code and you should find what you are looking for

We have a roof light and we bought a blind for this that actually fitted with just 4 screws.....

you may even find your roof light was made by Velux, rebadged and sold under the TP brand.

If it's fairly easy to reach, why not use cooking foil (that for turkeys is wider than the usual type) stuck to the inside of the window? Or stuck to its frame with masking tape, which is easily removable if not left in the heat for too long.

Even better if you can stick it to the outside...

Genuine Velux with blackout blinds, yes. DEWISOTT but needs care when opening and closing - use 2 hands to move it evenly.

Good point, although with the Velux windows I've seen you need to be a bit of a contortionist to access the outside of the pane!

For clarity, the 3 roof lights are in a sloping roof which is suitable for walking on, so external access through an upstairs window is very easy.

I was thinking of a cover which fits over the whole thing because being able to open them in the evening is less important than cutting out the blazing mid-day sun.

Could you fit sonething like a roller shutter outside? Some of them are electric. Then you could open/shut them by remote control, or let them shut automatically when the sun comes out.

Apply some Greenhouse Shading Paint/Whitewash to the outside, for a cheap and cheerful solution (sic). Wash it off when the weather 'goes back to normal' (whatever counts as normal now.)

Interesting but sounds expensive. I was thinking more of the kind of cover you see on very small trailers. Put over the top and secured with shot cord.
