RIP RDS

I received a message today to say that Rick Sanderson our resident optician passed away in June.

Rick was a decent bloke. I met him several times whilst working in Blackburn. He had only just turned 50.

Sorry to learn that. Helpful advice and not given to grinding axes.

I found out only because I asked if the OneStopGlasses website currently "under maintenance" would be coming back. It won't.

I think a good measure of Rick was the lengths to which he went to get the cat his wife wanted and his pleasure at delivering.

Bloody hell. That’s way too young. :-(

Rather sad and sobering...!

Do we know how?

I'm so sorry to hear this. I never had the the pleasure of meeting him but you could tell he was a decent bloke from the way that he wrote here in uk.d-i-y.

I'll miss him.

Oh, that's really sad news. He certainly seemed like a decent guy from his postings here. I have bought a few pairs of lenses and frames from him over the year (with a uk.d-i-y discount, no less).

Fifty is far too young an age. Thanks for letting us know, Adam.

It's younger than me.

Heart Attack? My father died at 54 with that, and that is because he put it off as indigestion for a year or more they told me. Brian

Probably younger than 95% of us here. Let’s face it, USENET is pretty much an old man’s club these days.

Very sad to hear the news.

I enjoyed his posts and always had something positive. Some us could learn by his example.

But 50, such a young age.

Very sorry to hear that.

I was thinking about him only the other day, a selfish question about an intermediate distance adjustment for using a TV as a computer at 1.8m.

I don't think I ever responded to any of his posts, but I certainly read them, and found them useful.
