Between us we quoted the succinct section that makes it an offence to drive any car which fails in any way to meet the construction and use regulations. This is not even confined to explicit safety regs. I am surprised at the draconian nature of this law, but law it is. Section

What we don't have is the full text of the construction and use regs and how they apply to each and every model of car, and indeed to ad hoc registered cars. I doubt if this exists as a single document, which makes it even more outrageous that breaching it is now a crime. But the section 42 has been shown. And *if* there is a regulation that says fitted airbags have to be working in a given car then driving when they are not working is undoubtedly a crime under this section.

suppose you have an igniter that is 10 ohms and it needs 8 amps for

200mS to go off how do you do that with 4V?

Now AFAIK a lot of igniters in airbags have similar specifications unless you want to post links to ones that are 4 Ohm and need 1A or something similar so they will work off 4V and explain why they would use them in a 12V system?

They don't need a book, the computer should tell them the sequences.

Me too. Very handy as the module can even be left plugged in permanently, so no wondering where you put it after you last used it.

The inflator consists of a metal case inside of which there is a combustion chamber surrounded by a metallic tissue filter packing. In pyrotechnic inflators, this chamber contains

70-75 g of a solid fuel pressed into a tablet form. This consists of 60 % sodium azide (NaN 3 ), 20% potassium nitrate (KN0 3 ) and 20% silicon oxide (Si0 2 ). When the inflator receives the triggering signal, the flow of current melts the triggering wire in the priming charge which is this ignited. 22 is enough to operate the evaluation and triggering electronics for 200-300 ms following an interruption to the power supply. They are charged during normal driving [SCA90, SCH92].

The airbag capacitors are cascade charged to 30 to 40 volts, so they can continue to be able to operate, if the 12v is lost during a crash.

That ought to only be active if the ignition if off?
