Repairing bonded leather

Aug 07, 2024 0 Replies

Earlier this year I sought advice asto how or whether I should seek to repair my bonded leather office chair.

The chair was bought about seven years ago from Costco. I hadn't even heard the term bonded leather until this year. Broadly speaking the advice was that you can repair bonded leather furniture but it won't last.

It was my chair's arms that had been worn down. At the front they were worn down to the underlying fabric. Well, I tried it and took my time and cleaned, filled and gradually built up the layers of colouring before overlaying with a transparent sealing layer.

It has been several months and there are no signs of wear.

If you are patient, my advice is don't be put off by those who have had a poor experience and project that as the norm. It need not be.

Regards, Alan
