One of my children likes to "use" an ancient Sony CLie I gave him.
One corner of the touchscreen registers touches in the wrong place, several millimeters below the point of contact. The error gets progressively less down the screen; halfway down it's spot on.
What are the chances of being able to repair this?

Slim I'd think, if the resistive or capacitive membrane is going flaky.
But have you recalibrated the touch screen? If so and the calibration is still out is it possible to "fool" the calibration by giving it feedback which is deliberately wrong, but which corrects for the error?
Depending on which touchscreen technology it uses, this sort of non- linear behaviour may be normal.
On Psions there was a software calibration mode that presented targets in each corner of the screen to touch on in turn.
If this device doesn't have something like that as it stands, have a look around for downloadable freeware to fix it.
Chances are that if you have the problem, so have 1000's of others.
Google "CLie digitizer recalibrate" or similar.
