The BBC have gleefully reported that the Conservatives have removed a lot of pre-2010 material from their website. They use the word 'spotted' as if a crime has been committed. They did not report this at all:

Actually I saw the BBC report of Labour's website deletion yesterday evening *before* reading the report of the Torys doing the same ... perhaps you're only looking at articles that support your own bias?

AIUI the difference is the Conservatives set their website's robot.txt file to instruct archiving sites to remove the old content (and subsequently denied requesting removal), whereas Labour did not.
Oh I'm SO embarrassed! I searched diligently for that, didn't find it, so concluded it didn't exist. Damn.

Don't bother using the BBC's search facility to search their own website, it frequently fails to return articles you know are there. Use google, and add "site:bbc.co.uk" without the quote marks to the search terms
The Conservative website's utilisation of the robots.txt file has meant that website archives such as the well established Internet Archive have deleted all their previously archived content - the Labour website has not done this, so previous content remains in the archives.
Totally disgraceful behaviour from the socialist leftie menace, allowing their previous speeches and past policies to be archived. The Tories meanwhile have got it right - no need to confuse anyone by suggesting that they ever had a different policy on anything.
