My friend and his brother rented out their dad' semi after he died.
One day they got a call from the police. The house had burnt out, there was a dead body in the kitchen and the remains of a cannabis farm in the roof.
And no sign of the tenant.
roll forward some years to today and the house is finally rebuilt and will be going on the market. No more landlord stuff. Too much hassle.

Hear, hear. Been there, done that, can't be bothered. All leasing legislation sees to be in favour of the errant tenant, but with no support to a wronged landlord.

Fitting rotten floorboards and joists to all the houses is one way of reducing the population! <g>
In 1974, I was a haematology technician at St Davids and on the ground floor, the histology dept had a room full of glass slide cabinets. These are *heavy*.
One Monday morning we came in and all the cabinets were 'half height' having fallen through the dry-rot infested floor into the crawl space.
