To make manufacturers produce better vacs. Just because a cr@p motor uses 2kW doesn't mean its any good.

The main purpose is greenwash, as it makes it appear that the makers are taking climate change seriously.
It is the fan and the filtration system that makes the difference. There are very few motors made now that are much less than 90% efficient.
to comply with the Climate Hange policy and reduce energy consumption.
Marginally, as the decrease in motor power often results in an increased run time.
You are kidding? The universal motors used in cheap vacs are at best about 75% efficient and are probably lower.
Have you not noticed the fan heater effect you get from vacs?

But how will it do that, if people can still buy commercial vacuum cleaners with much higher power?
The power to make laws and govern is lent to an elected government by the people and should be returned undiminished at the end of their term. (Tony Benn)
Successive governments chose to give away our power to a foreign body (EU) without asking the people, preferring their ideology to democracy (nothing has changed). Baring in mind that they did ask when they wanted to join a trade block in the 70s but didn't when giving away control of laws taxation fisheries etc. etc.
That is what started the problem. Wonder why they didn't ask, bet I know the answer.
Oh dear.
Bob.
Have I really got to go to the trouble of digging out the youtube videos where cameron said time and time again that -
If you vote leave the next day article 50 will be triggered and 12 months later we will be out and trading on WTO terms.
Do I really?
The vote was clear - remain or leave and leave means leaving *ALL* institutions of the EU. There was NO mention of a deal.
Bob.
Because most won't.
Not only that: to reduce _unnecessary_ energy consumption, where vacs were sold based purely on the amount of power they _consumed_.
What perhaps was missing was the introduction of a requirement for a more effective measurement - like the one, which most of us haven't noticed (though probably more in these 'groups than the general public!), that lightbulbs should carry a lumen rating. Some sort of "amount of suck" or something. It would be more difficult, and ideally should give details of how that varies with fill level.
To ensurejobs for Mosch, Mielel, and Siemens workers by obsoleting old domestic vaccuum cleaners.
Bless!
What people can do and what people DO so are not te ame. Anyone can not watch TV, because they dont want to pay te Boy Buggerers Company license fees
Most cant be arsed.
Remember the point of the legisilation is to incerase sales of German vacuum cleaners.

So the clever and well-to-do people who know how to evade the vacuum cleaner regulation will be OK, whereas the others - typically the older and poorer - will be the ones who suffer from it. Much like the light bulbs directive, I suppose. Or, come to think of it, freedom of movement.
How does that work? People don't stop using a vac just because the EEC say they should.
Bill
Don't forget that according to TNP everything is caused by the EU.
He won't tell you why he thinks its their fault as that would mean using facts which he doesn't have.
Remember he even repeated the old bent banana myth as being an EU reg.
Some companies developed low power vacuum cleaners. The EU believes this development would have widespread advantages and, after setting up an investigative committee, changes its regulations to exclude power hungry vacumm cleaners.
As a result companies that don't produce lower powered vacuum cleaners moan about it. People where these companies are based also moan about it.
However you can't uninvent something like lower power vacuum cleaners. Companies that don't produce them are going to get left behind. There's no point arguing for the benefits of a superseded technology.
For decades many west European countries like France, Belgium and Italy have been willing to adopt change in so many ways but Britain has always been the slow coach.
Here you go:
Irel shaal!
Dyson supported low power mains vacs. Mainly because it would mean his cordless vacs looked better.
Of course once he had the market share he moved manufacturing to China so he could make more money.
