That's why some cookware like copper oraluminium won't work on an induction hob. It has to be ferromagnetic. The hob can get slightly hot from contact with the pan, but that's thereverse of what traditionally happens when cooking on a hob.I've not tried it, but in theory you could put a thin sheet ofinsulation of some sort between the hob and the pan, and the contentsof the pan would still get hot.
