The tumble has decided to start playing up, only operating whilst the start button is held down. Anyone on the group know the reasoning for having a separate start button and what might need replacing?

Might it be the "starter capacitor" that has failed? It was quite a large lump in mine and made a bit of a bang when it failed, but was easy to replace.
Oh, you mean the tumbly-dry! :)
This being the group it is, my first thought was a tumble polisher.
