plunge saw ?

Can someone explain in what manner a "plunge saw" is different to a normal circular saw. Thanks, Simon.

Normally spring loaded and with a depth stop. So you can set your maximum plunge depth before you plunge it rather than just being able to lock it off at a certain depth.

I see. Sort of like a captive sawboard. Presumably the saw could be detached to use as a normal circular saw, if the track was not long enough ? Simon.

Yes. The plunge bit stays with the saw and you don't have to use the plunge facility. The guide rails are just like any other guided saw, festool, Bosch etc and can be used or not.
