I need to buy a couple of 5 inch plastic gully (?) covers below drain pipes for Victorian house drains. Current covers are plastic 6 inch that don't fit properly. I can find cast iron covers at £20 a go. I should Co-Co. But I can't find 5 inch plastic covers. Any suggestions where I should look before cutting 6 inch covers down to size?

I like your thinking. I was looking for a reason to dabble with this technology.
That's actually an application where one of the relatively low cost "domestic" machines might well be fine (as long as it will cover the traverse distance).
Go and visit your local pub, from memory many of the individual square type drip trays are nominally 6? but the lid inserts are smaller and closer to 5 ?.
Ask at the pub if you can measure one, if suitable they may even have some spare. If not eBay though watch for some of the rip off prices. This sort of thing

Nice. Beats making lots of holes in plastic. Cutting a larger one down can lose you 2 of the strong sides of the frame. Another option is some wire artfully intertwined, or even an EML offcut. EML lacks weight, put a stone on it. Iron ones with few holes work but clog faster.
