Pizza oven repair

With a full refund heading toward my account, I suggested avoiding the

*clamshell* type for any replacement.

Sadly, my grandchildren and their caterer seem determined to try again. Anyone have any experience with these things?

The failure point is where single core flexible cables are used to link the top element across the hinge.

Alternatively, if I had some suitable wire, I could repair the original unit!

No experience, but possible many of them are made in the same (Chinese) factory - the designs look similar, they're all brands you've never heard of...

You know you want to!

Any constraints on the wire? Could you fit say braided clothes iron flex in there?

Indeed !

Bear in mind these connections are coupled to two heating elements with little air movement. Outside the Aerospace industry, can you get single core 10 amp super flexible insulated for UK supply voltage wire rated for a few hundred deg. C?

The originals were possibly covered in braided glass fibre.

It turns out you can, although you might have to wait a few weeks for backorder:

Hmm. Affordable. Looks very similar to the original wire. I don't understand the Farnell std refs.

I found a pull out drawer type 12" pizza cooker for less money than a new clamshell.

Curiously this has just re-surfaced. They have moved house and asked for comments on this..
