Pine in contact with galvanised steel ?

I've been wanting to put a lean-to conservatory on the side of my cottage for some years but couldn't solve the problem of the low wall height without going into the roof.

I've recently seen the solution in the form of using 50mm box section steel for the framework. Calculations show this has a significant safety margin.

This is my question :- I want to face the vertical support steel members with facing pine. My thinking is to clamp several 50mm wide,

100mm high wood collars round the steel and screw the 150mm wide facing to these. Does anyone know if there is likely to be any chemical reaction between wood and the galvanising?

Another option I agree is just to use timber for the verticals, in which case could someone advise me of how I would calculate the timber size for a calculated loading of 750kg (including wet snow!) on 4 vertical supports.

Thanks

Rob
