According to the MSE page, Bulb would cost me £105/year more than my present supplier, even my current supplier's current best tariff would cost me £32/year more.

Looks like a bad time to be switching?

I got a good fixed price dual fuel deal in February Currently Bulb would cost me £318* per year more than my current tariffs with Avro. Avro have since increased prices.

The wholesale price has risen substantially. Symbio will be charging me more than I pay now. The price rise could well be caused by a government failure to ensure that there is an adequate generating capacity.

Its all very messy,I had a long chat to EDF and after some time it turned out that the standard variable was actually cheaper over two years than the fixed price for economy 7. Its all a bit of a con though as although its only 9p at night, in the day its nearly10p more than the numbers quoted here, so then it becomes, what can I do at night.

Yep, they haven't invested in enough windmills and solar panels. Isn't this just a result of giving people what they have demanded - green energy by 2025?

While wholesale prices are clearly rising it's worth bearing in mind they fell sharply last year because of the pandemic. So there were some very good deals around last year which ain't going to be seen again. When comparing costs per kWh it may be worth asking "until when?"

From what I've seen Jan/Feb this year was the sweet spot for 12 month fixed price deals and it was than that I signed up for 12 months. The MSE site says I cannot get a better deal now by changing (I have a zero exit fee on my contract)

I'm not sure i've ever changed supplier and *not* regretted it for one reason or another including meter problems and gas leaks.

Yes, it's a national scandal that new gas suppliers don't fix their pipes up properly to the property when you switch.

The German Greens should be well f***ed then given that their pushing the shutdown of many viable nuclear plants in recent years is the direct cause of Germany burning a lot of coal.
