Paint Matching

Hi,

I need to do some touching-up work to some paintwork around the house but am having a 'mare matching the paint that the previous owners slapped on. Is there a more effective method to do this than relying on the colour-cards (that never match the shade you eventually get) or buying shed-loads of tester pots? Total re-decoration is not an option.........

Thanks

go to a decent decorators' merchant with a flake of the paint you are trying to match. there are machines that do that. Even John Lewis in Oxford Street had one in the 1980s - but they don't do diy anymore

but clean the paint before taking it, and clean the whole wall before patching. Otherwise you're just not going to get a match, normal unnoticeable levels of dirt cause colour variation across walls.
