Not a DIY post at all. Just a cry for a bit of sympathy. Remember a couple of weeks ago, I replaced the extractor fan in the loft above the shower room ? Well, by the time I got up today, the house was empty as they had all gone out shopping, so I decided to do something useful, and finish the job off as all seemed to be well, by putting the loft hatch back in place. So I stuck the ladder against the wall just in front or the hatch. Normally, I poke it up through the hole, and rest it on the surround, but as I was just going to stick my head in and make sure everything was ok, and then just pull the hatch back into place, it went against the wall. I trotted up it at the normal speed, not thinking for a moment that it was laying at a shallower angle than normal. Suddenly, my world exploded in a cascade of stars and I fell back off the ladder to land on my arse on the floor. Blood was streaming - and I mean streaming - down my face. I picked myself up and staggered into the shower room to take a look. My forehead had collided with the hatch surround, which had actually taken a bloody great wodge of skin off, which I later found still stuck to the wood.
It took me about 10 minutes and half a bog roll to stop it bleeding. When the missus got back, she looked at it and said what's that coming out of it - pus ? No, I screamed, of course it's not. It's bloody Germolene !!! Well, said she, how dumb are you ? And that was it. The extent of my sympathy from everybody.
So now, I look really stupid with a big scab about 10 mm across right above one eyebrow. As well as that, it hurts from the bang it got, and is sore from the missing skin. And it's going to leave a hole to spoil my good looks. > :-(
