I hava a Potterton Flamingo which keeps cutting out. Currently only the hot water circuit is in opertion, The water is not particularly hot and the overheating thermostat button does not pop out. Could it just be that it needs fernox treatment or is ther some other reason?

From your description it sounds like it's underheating rather than overheating!
Are you sure it's not just a case of the tank stat being set too low?
There is no tank stat and even with the stat in the bolier turned to max it is still cuts out.
So what exactly do you mean by "cuts out"? You said earlier that it
*doesn't* trip the overheat stat. So what happens, and what do you have to do to get it going again?Is there a hot water tank, or is it a combi boiler? If there *is* a tank, what controls the system in terms of programmer, motorised valves, thermostats etc.?
Does it cut out as in the pilot goes out, or the pilot stays on but the burner cuts out before the water is hot?
How hot are the pipes coming out of the boiler? Could be your pump isn't working. Is your hot water pumped or gravity?
