Over sensitive humidistat

Our bathroom extractor fan has a timer and humidistat to control its operation. Lately the humidistat has seemingly become very sensitive (or perhaps just being erratic) but the end result is that the fan can start up just after going for a pee, no need to run a shower/bath/hot water etc. it’s not a tiny bathroom so I doubt the humidity is really changing that much. It’ll then run for 30 minutes or longer.

Are the humidity sensors prone to getting over sensitive? Is it worth trying to clean the sensor? If so, what with?

Try a vacuum cleaner. There may may be some fluff in there.

It work on an old dehumidifier we had, the humidistat was a bit of clear plastic like ribbon. I assume it changed length with humidity.

Insects are another problem you can get. I never bother with fans any more, just open a window. Brian
