I acquired a wet and dry vacuum cleaner, recently, and it makes the job an awful lot easier.
Thanks, everyone for the explanation. I can see that it's not really possible to pump out the drain hose completely. Maybe, the filter needs to be repositioned a bit higher up, so it can be cleaned without draining the machine completely?
