All costing etc. Whilst I'm aware much good is done under the name of religion ...
Probably in some cases.
Only if you don't get the link possibly?
?
Although it can be far from optional, like London drug gangs.
I didn't say they were?
'when they were'. The have been loads of instances over time when religions have made loads of money via commercial venture.
In that case they probably were. Doesn't exclude the times when they weren't.
Ok?
Quite?
Yup, but animal exploitation goes on around the world, from those sacrificing them in the thought that that will appease the gods to those that do the same to consume because they *believe* they are nothing but good for them or that they have the right etc.

When it does ...
In many cases it is indeed. Or a businesses opportunity that is serving a demand, even if it isn't creating / stimulating it.
I guess that depends why you are doing it? If you moved into a house where the PO had used colours / materials / styles you don't find pleasant then 'of course' you would want to change them to something that does (if only for that reason). But I decorated this house with what I found suitable at the time and that hasn't changed yet? So why would I bother to decorate it again when I don't enjoy doing so?
I believe they are, though social / commercial pressures. There are loads of people out there who are trapped into following fashion, be that clothing or house decoration and who simply couldn't not buy their partner cut flowers on Valentines day, their birthday or anniversary. It was the Mrs birthday last month some time and I got her nothing (I don't do cards in any case) because we are grown ups and do what we want, not what others expect us to do.
There could be if there was more of a need for food for survival than flowers to cater to peoples 'fancy'. See, just because you can or like to do something doesn't mean it's right (that you can or do).
There is a law in place indirectly right now, if the government provides a facility to allow people into the country to pick edible crops but not flowers (so the flowers rot in the fields, wasting food growing land)?
Ever heard of rationing where even the essentials were limited and fancy stuff simply wasn't available (other than at high cost and often via the black market).

Valentine's Eve = February 13th.

They would probably also take a hand warming pouch.

T i m
So that happens once a year right? ;-)
Only if it would be something you would keep in your glove?
We have had those rechargeable gel pouches but they are quite bulky and not much use if you also carrying a torch or holding a dog lead and wouldn't want anything disposable (for cost / environmental reasons).
Electrically heated gloves that use magnetic electrical couplings might work so she can take the gloves off easily if / when required etc.

I see veganuary was somewhat of a failure. Meat and fish sales rose substantially.

I'm not, it's just that I've got Cognitive Dissonance. So you've all got to be sympathetic. It's the law.

Most people have Bill, especially where it comes to what sub-set of all the animal species they are happy to eat / exploit and those they aren't.
It's a consequence of confused and often dissonance created indoctrination from a very young age ... being told we should be kind to and respect animals, whilst our parents are feeding us the diced bodies of the very same species they were telling is to respect on the farm visit hours earlier?

Luckily, there is as very easy cure for cognitive dissonance ... you just stick with the millions of alternative, nutritious and tasty foods that don't involve any animal suffering, death and exploitation and should already make up 2/3rds of your diet in any case. Sorted!

Like how you treat your dog, you mean? It's proving to be a serious embarrassment to the trajectory of your virtue-signalling lifestyle narrative.
You need to spend time, not so much 'correcting' TNP's accurate statements on the poor performance of wind power, but on writing the dog out of your gospel.
So it would seem, except that you've had 65 years of fun and you now want to stop everyone else having theirs.
You forgot to mention the vitally-necessary supplements, perhaps due to cognitive dissonance.

I don't have any issues with eating meat. I do have issues over animal welfare, something you don't seem to have. You have never criticised the practice of ritual slaughter where an animal is bled out whilst conscious.
There is, you should stop keeping pets as it is consistent with being a fanatical vegan, who feeds his dog plants rather than the meat your dogs really need.

Imagine it under its original name as the Horst Wessel full of Nazi indoctorated youth training to fill positions in the Kreigsmarine many of whom would soon be in command of U boats trying to kill people like your Dad. Should give you a reasonable excuse to take it down.

Yeah why do we milk carnations :-0
I don't like soy 'milk' much either, but I have converted to oat milk for ~50% of my milk intake. Its' £2.49 for 1 litre (branded) at my local shop, but 79p in aldi version not much difference in taste, so plan to get this in future, not sure I'll give up milk completely though aim to get to 75% by the summer.
I only like earl grey when mixed with 'normal tea' I don't like the smell or taste of herbal teas I've tried.
Well my parents didn't want me to have a bike due to traffic on the roads in the area.
Cold, wet and snow might be OK until they return injured and you have to take them to A&E. Not so bad if you have a car to take them but public transport is no fun in those conditions.
Understandable but perhaps cut down on the MDNA ;-)

;-)
That's a start. Those looking to save money here make their own. ;-)
And, like most 'tastes' they are acquired. It was my Dr that suggested I lay off dairy a good 5 years ago so I did and was therefore already de-indoctrinated when it came to going vegan. I have been surprised how many places will offer you alternative milks, including our local biker burger van. ;-)
Me, Hi, long time no see. How ya doing? Him, Hi strangers. I'm fine thanks, how you both? Me, We are ok thanks, we went vegan a few months ago and fancied a cuppa, so do you do any 'other' milks? Him, Yea, we have oat, soy, almond ... chocolate and vanilla soy ... Me, Cool, two teas with oat milk please. ;-)
I think it's all in the mind. Every time I see cows milk I think of the suffering of the calves, the suffering of their mothers calling them, the discomfort of mastitis, and the early death the mothers are condemned to, simply because we want to deny the calves something that was theirs and take from them to consume ourselves! Worse, it's from a different species and long after we have weaned! It's all just crazy and disgusting (and I don't mean the allowed levels of puss in every mouthful). ;-(
Oh, and to add insult to injury and taking newborn calves away from their mothers, in America (to name one) they often advertise lost children on milk cartons!
And if you think about it, the people in 'A cult' are those who were indoctrinated, supported by the Government after the war, trying to deal with a surplus of milk so offloading it on the kids, (in spite of it not actually being as good for us as they told us at the time) and use accepting it was a sane or 'natural' thing to do!
Milk a cow with a machine or your hands to drink the milk yourself and for some reason you are considered 'normal. Such the milk straight out of a cows teat and the chances are you would be arrested? What's the difference?
We aren't 'snobs' of any food or drink, coming from a generation where you were expected to be grateful for what you were given (including lumps of animal carcass those days [1]). ;-(
Me neither.
<snip>
Nor did mine (particularly, they never bought me one), but they didn't want to have to run me about either so it was the lesser of two evils.
In some ways cycling is actually safer now than it was then. Cars are 'kinder' to human bodies ('soft zones', wide impact areas) and have better lights and brakes. Cycles are generally safer as well, with better brakes and tyres suited to each surface (you just had 'tyres' in my early cycling day), better lights and reflective gear and helmets (when worn and when they actually help). Plus you have dedicated cycle lanes and shared use pavements etc.
I can't remember not using my bike / moped / scooter / motorbike irrespective of the conditions as it was either that, walking or public transport.

Funnily, she was given some CBD oil to try by a friend who had got something 'better' as it was recommended by someone here but it didn't seem to offer her any pain relief. It could have been that it wasn't good stuff, she needed to take it for a longer period or it simply wouldn't work for her (only operations have in the past).
Cheers, T i m
[1] Including some animal organs, like liver, that I would reluctantly eat, till I came to a 'tube' then me being physically sick over the dinner table mean she never forced me to eat that again.
